Talk to usMachine and equipment supply in Yemen
Yemen is a conflict market and EMM will not pretend otherwise. Aden, Hodeidah and Mukalla each sit under different control with different clearing realities, banking is fragmented between the central bank branches, and routes open and close. We quote only where we can see a working corridor and a payment channel, we check each route and channel afresh for every order, because what worked in spring may not work now, and we decline orders we cannot see a way to deliver. That is a less attractive answer than a confident one, but it is the accurate one.
What is genuinely being procured
Water and power dominate. Borehole drilling equipment and consumables, hand and solar pumps, submersibles, storage, filtration and chlorination, diesel sets, solar panels, hybrid inverters and deep-cycle battery storage make up a large share of what moves. Much of this is bought by humanitarian and development programmes, local authorities and water committees rather than by commercial industry, and procurement documentation requirements can be strict - we supply technical files, test certificates and origin documentation to tender standard where needed. Food processing continues at smaller scale: grain and flour milling, sesame and groundnut expelling, bakery plant, water bottling and juice filling. Fisheries along the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden coasts buy ice makers, cold rooms, freezers and small vessel equipment. Rebuilding takes interlocking block presses, concrete mixers, rollers and compactors, scaffolding and site tooling.
How we specify for it
Assume no grid, no service network and no spare part obtainable locally. We choose mechanical over electronic control wherever the duty allows, standardise on common engine, bearing and belt sizes, and ship a full wear-parts and consumables kit in the same container as the machine. Coastal Yemen is extremely hot and humid; the highlands around Sanaa sit above 2,200 m and need altitude derating. Where the network functions it delivers 230 V and 400 V, 50 Hz.
