Airport and port authorities for baggage and cargo handling. Prison and military catering. Government offices for mail and records. Mostly framework or bulk awards rather than individual purchases, and they repeat because carts wear out.

Load rating stated as a working load, not a static maximum, and honoured - carts are always overloaded in practice, so a safety margin is realism rather than generosity. Wheel diameter and tread chosen for the surface: large pneumatic or semi-pneumatic for broken ground and kerbs, sealed bearings everywhere dust or water is present, and non-marking tread for clinical floors. Frame material and finish for the environment, which for hospital and food use means stainless or a coating that survives repeated chemical cleaning. Welded joints rather than fastened where the cart will be dragged.

Food, linen, clinical waste and instrument carts have distinct requirements for materials, cleanability, closure and sometimes colour coding to the facility's own scheme. A tender that lists one cart type for all of them will produce a delivery the infection control team rejects, and we will raise it before bidding.
