Revenue loss through unmetered and under-metered supply is one of the largest financial problems facing utilities across both regions, and metering tenders are correspondingly large and correspondingly scrutinised. What matters: accuracy class held across the full current range, not just at nominal; tamper detection and evidence; communication protocol compatibility with the utility's existing head-end system, which is where rollouts fail; prepayment standard compliance where prepaid metering is in use, as it widely is in Africa; and sealing arrangements that satisfy the regulator.
