Different authorities across Africa and South America accept different regimes - EN 54 across much of the francophone and North African region and anywhere following European practice, UL or FM where American practice dominates, and in several countries a national standard or an insurer's requirement layered on top. These are not interchangeable, and a certificate for one does not satisfy another. We ask which the authority having jurisdiction will accept, and if we cannot supply equipment holding it, we say so rather than bid.

Much of this is driven by insurance and licensing rather than by a capital programme, which means it recurs steadily rather than arriving in large waves.

Detector type matched to the risk - smoke detection in a dusty warehouse will produce false alarms until somebody disconnects it, which is worse than no system. Zone and loop design, cable type and segregation, battery standby duration, and a cause-and-effect matrix the authority can review. We supply the design documentation and the commissioning certificates, and we are clear that a system nobody maintains stops being a system.
