Traffic Safety Equipments

Traffic Safety Equipments are bought on measurable physical properties, and the measurement is the contract. A roads authority tendering for signs, markings, delineators or barriers specifies retroreflectivity classes, durability periods and impact performance, and acceptance testing on arrival or after installation is normal. EMM produces these at volume in China and quotes to the stated class with the test evidence, because a sign that meets the class on day one and fails it in year two is a warranty claim waiting to happen.

Who issues these tenders

National roads authorities and road funds, which in most African countries are the dominant buyer and run continuous corridor improvement and maintenance programmes. Traffic police for enforcement and control equipment. Municipal transport departments for urban signage, signals and traffic calming. Airport and port authorities for airside marking and control. Ministries of transport for road safety programmes, many funded by the World Bank, AfDB or the Global Road Safety Facility. In South America, state and federal highway departments.

The specification points that are actually tested

Retroreflective sheeting class and its guaranteed retention period - the difference between engineering grade and high-intensity prismatic is a factor of several in both performance and price, and tenders are sometimes written without the writer realising which they have asked for. Substrate gauge and corrosion protection. Legend and legibility to the national manual. For barriers, containment level and working width against a recognised crash test. For markings, retroreflectivity, skid resistance and wear class. For signals, luminous intensity and controller protocol.

Climate is part of the specification here

Equatorial UV destroys under-specified sheeting and plastics quickly, and a ten-year sheeting warranty written for a temperate climate does not mean ten years on the Equator. We specify for the actual UV and temperature exposure and state the realistic service life rather than quoting the manufacturer's best case.

Send us the tender's sheeting class, test standards and the national sign manual, and we will quote to it with the evidence attached.

Before you order

Specifying Traffic Safety Equipments

Most delays on an equipment order come from a spec that was agreed too loosely. These are the points we confirm in writing before anything is manufactured.

Send your specification
  • Capacity and duty cycle. Throughput per hour and how many hours a day the Traffic Safety Equipments will actually run. Continuous duty and intermittent duty are different machines.
  • Power supply. Voltage, phase and frequency at the site. Getting this wrong after shipment is expensive to correct.
  • Site conditions. Ambient temperature, humidity, dust and available floor space or headroom.
  • Standards and certification. Whatever the buyer, tender or customs authority in the destination country requires.
  • Spares and consumables. What wears, how often, and what we ship with the machine so the first year runs without a stoppage.
  • Installation scope. Whether you need supply only, or supply with installation, testing and commissioning on site.
Common questions

Traffic Safety Equipments — questions buyers ask

Do you manufacture Traffic Safety Equipments, or resell?

We are manufacturers and direct suppliers from China. That means the specification, the price and the lead time come from the factory rather than through a trading layer, and changes to a design are agreed with the people who will build it.

Can Traffic Safety Equipments be built to our own specification?

Yes. Bulk, OEM and turnkey are all standard for us. Send drawings, a parts list or simply the capacity you need to hit, and we will come back with a technical sheet and a written quotation before anything is committed.

Which countries do you export Traffic Safety Equipments to?

We ship across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, coordinated through our office in Dubai, UAE. Export documentation, incoterms and freight are handled with the order. The markets we publish pages for are listed below.

Do you handle installation and commissioning?

For project and tender supply, yes. Our managers and technicians carry out installation, testing and commissioning on your site, so the equipment is running and verified before we leave. For straightforward supply orders we ship ready to install.
