Talk to usMachine and equipment supply in United-kingdom
The United Kingdom is a market where EMM has to earn its place on specifics rather than on price alone. British buyers have ready access to European and domestic machinery with service networks behind it, and the post-Brexit conformity position adds a step that catches unprepared suppliers. Goods placed on the market in Great Britain need UKCA marking against the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations, with CE marking accepted for most products under the indefinite extension, while Northern Ireland continues to follow CE and the EU regime. We confirm which applies before quoting. Cargo lands at Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway, Liverpool or Immingham.
Where imported plant genuinely competes
Food manufacturing is the largest category of enquiry - the UK has a big processing sector and comparatively little domestic machinery building in it - covering bakery, ready meals, meat and poultry processing, dairy, beverage filling, bottling and canning, and packaging and end-of-line automation. Recycling and waste processing has grown strongly with landfill policy and extended producer responsibility, buying shredders, balers, separators, washing lines and sorting plant. Construction and groundworks take concrete, batching, compaction, lifting and site equipment. Timber and joinery, sheet metal and fabrication workshops, and the engineering SME base buy machine tools, laser and plasma cutting, press brakes, welding plant and compressors. Agriculture, horticulture under glass, and the controlled-environment and vertical farming sector buy specialised growing, irrigation and handling equipment.
Compliance is the whole conversation
PUWER places duties on the employer using the machine, so a British buyer is personally exposed if guarding, interlocks and documentation are inadequate - which is why they ask about it and why a supplier who shrugs does not get the order. We supply declarations of conformity, technical files, test certificates and English-language manuals, and we will tell you if a product cannot be properly certificated rather than shipping it anyway. The standard is 230 V single phase, 400 V three phase and 50 Hz, with BS 1363 plugs.
Ask us for the declaration of conformity and the technical file with the quotation. If we cannot provide them, you should not be buying from us.
