Uganda has no coastline, so every machine EMM supplies arrives by sea at Mombasa or Dar es Salaam and then travels 1,100 to 1,600 km by road, or by rail and lake barge. That single fact shapes most of our quoting for Ugandan customers. Inland transport, not the machine, is often the variable that decides whether a project is affordable, and oversized or heavy single pieces cost disproportionately more than the same capacity split into modules. Where a line can be shipped as skid-mounted sections and assembled in Kampala, we build it that way.

What Ugandan customers order

Coffee is the anchor - hulling, grading, colour sorting and roasting equipment for buyers in Kampala, Mbale, Bushenyi and the western districts. Dairy processing around Mbarara and the south west takes pasteurisers, homogenisers, cooling tanks and pouch filling. Maize, cassava and millet milling runs right through the country at every scale from a single hammer mill to a 50-tonne-a-day plant. The Namanve and Kampala industrial parks buy plastics, packaging, steel fabrication and food machinery. Oil and gas development in the Albertine region and the pipeline works have added demand for pumps, valves, generator sets, welding plant and site workshop equipment.

Compliance and power

Imports are covered by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards conformity programme, which means verification in China ahead of shipment and a certificate travelling with the documents. Mains is 240 V single phase and 415 V three phase at 50 Hz. Grid reach is good in the central region and patchier elsewhere, so standby generation is a normal part of a plant specification rather than an afterthought.
