Turkey

Turkey is a country that manufactures machinery rather than merely importing it, and EMM is straightforward about what that means. Turkish machine builders are genuinely good - in textile machinery, food processing, packaging, plastics and construction plant they export worldwide and compete with Europe. We do not pretend to beat a Konya or Gaziantep manufacturer on their own product. Where we are competitive is in components and sub-assemblies, in categories Turkish industry does not make, and in price-led lines where a Turkish buyer is sourcing inputs rather than finished plant. Cargo lands at Ambarli and Istanbul, Mersin, Izmir and Aliaga, Gemlik or Iskenderun.

Where the demand actually is

Textiles and apparel from Bursa, Denizli, Kahramanmaras and Gaziantep buy spinning and weaving components, dyeing and finishing parts, needles, cylinders and spares in large volumes. Automotive and white goods manufacturing around Kocaeli, Bursa and Manisa source stamping tooling, moulds, welding consumables, conveyors, handling and test equipment. Food processing - hazelnuts, dried fruit, olive oil, flour milling, confectionery - buys processing and packaging lines and components. Steel at Iskenderun and Aliaga, construction materials, marble and natural stone, ceramics in Kutahya and Bozuyuk, and furniture in Inegol and Kayseri all have substantial equipment demand. Solar and renewables manufacture has grown quickly.

CE marking is not optional

Turkey is in a customs union with the European Union, so machinery placed on the market here requires CE marking against the Machinery Directive, with EMC and Low Voltage conformity, a technical file and a declaration of conformity. TSE certification applies to certain categories. This is a genuine gate and we confirm the conformity route before quoting rather than after. Electrical service is 230 V single phase, 400 V three phase, 50 Hz, European-pattern outlets, with a firm grid. Turkey is also seismically active, and anchoring and mounting specifications for heavy plant need to reflect that.
