Thailand is one of the more sophisticated industrial markets EMM serves and a competitive one, because Thai manufacturers and Japanese-owned plants here already buy to established supply arrangements. Our position is on specific lines and on components rather than on displacing an incumbent supplier wholesale. Cargo lands at Laem Chabang for most container traffic, Bangkok's Khlong Toei for smaller consignments, and Map Ta Phut for petrochemical and bulk project cargo.
Automotive, food, rubber, rice
The automotive sector around Rayong, Chonburi and Samut Prakan is the largest manufacturing industry and the reason Thailand is sometimes called the Detroit of Asia. It buys presses, stamping dies, welding automation, injection moulding, conveyors, measurement and test equipment, and the electric vehicle transition has added battery assembly and testing demand. Food processing is the second pillar and genuinely world-scale - Thailand exports canned tuna, poultry, rice, sugar, cassava starch, frozen seafood and fruit - buying retort and canning lines, freezing tunnels, cooking and extrusion plant, sorting and grading, filling and packaging. Rubber processing, with Thailand the largest natural rubber producer, takes crepe, block and latex plant and tyre manufacturing equipment. Rice milling at commercial scale buys hullers, whiteners, polishers, colour sorters and packing lines. Electronics, plastics, petrochemical downstream and construction materials complete it.
TISI standards and conditions
Products within scope of a mandatory Thai Industrial Standard require TISI certification, which involves factory assessment and takes time, so we establish the position before manufacturing begins. Power is 50 Hz, 220 V single phase and 380 V across three phase. The climate is tropical with a heavy monsoon from May to October and flood risk on the central plain, which is worth remembering when siting electrical panels and motors. Thai-language markings are available on request.
