Tanzanian buyers work with EMM mainly through Dar es Salaam, with Tanga serving the north and Mtwara the gas and cement traffic in the south. Dar is also the gateway for the Central Corridor, so equipment we ship for Tanzanian customers regularly continues inland to Kigali, Bujumbura, Lusaka or Kigoma. That onward leg changes how we pack: longer road distances on mixed surfaces mean crating, bracing and spares matter more than they would for a factory ten kilometres from the quay.

Sectors we supply

Agro-processing is the biggest single pull - cashew shelling and grading in Mtwara and Lindi, sunflower oil expelling across the central regions, maize and rice milling almost everywhere, and sisal and cotton handling in Tanga and Shinyanga. Cement and clinker plants around Mbeya, Tanga and Dar buy conveying, crushing and bagging equipment. The mining belt from Geita to Shinyanga takes pumps, generators, compressors, drilling consumables and workshop tooling. Construction demand has been strong alongside the standard gauge railway and road programmes, which keeps batching plants, concrete mixers, vibrators and scaffolding moving.

Practical notes

Tanzania requires Pre-Shipment Verification of Conformity administered for the Tanzania Bureau of Standards, so inspection has to happen in China before loading. We book it and send the certificate with the bill of lading. Supply is 230 V single phase, 400 V three phase, 50 Hz. Mains supply outside the main towns is not always firm, so we are usually asked to quote a generator and a stabiliser alongside the machine itself, and we would rather do that at quotation stage than see a new line tripping on brownouts.
