Talk to usMachine and equipment supply in Seychelles
Seychelles is one hundred and fifteen islands and about a hundred thousand people, and EMM supplies it through Victoria on Mahe. Everything about the market follows from that scale. Container volumes are small, sailings are less frequent than to the mainland, inter-island movement adds a further leg for anything not destined for Mahe or Praslin, and there is effectively no local manufacturing capability to fall back on. So we plan Seychellois orders around completeness: the right machine, the spares to keep it running for two years, and the consumables, all in one shipment.
Tuna, tourism, water
Fish processing is the island's industrial backbone. The tuna canning operation at Victoria and the associated fleet support buy freezing plant, cold stores, ice machines, can seaming and sterilising equipment, conveyors, fish handling and waste processing. Tourism drives the second stream of demand, and it is less obvious than it sounds: commercial laundry, kitchen and catering equipment, HVAC and refrigeration, swimming pool filtration, water heating, generator sets and the whole back-of-house plant that a resort needs. Water is a standing constraint on granite islands with no significant aquifers, so desalination units, reverse osmosis membranes, pumps, storage and treatment are regular orders. Construction takes block machines, small batching plants, compactors and site tooling sized for island logistics rather than for a mainland site.
Specification for an island
Salt-laden air and constant high humidity attack equipment continuously. We specify marine-grade coatings, stainless fasteners, sealed enclosures and tropicalised windings, and we treat that as the baseline rather than an upgrade. Electricity runs at 240 V and 400 V, 50 Hz, UK-pattern outlets. Access and door widths on existing buildings are often tight, so we check dimensions before shipping anything large.
