Saudi Arabia has one technical difference from every other Gulf state that catches importers out repeatedly: the grid runs at 60 Hz, not 50 Hz. A motor, pump or generator set built for the regional standard will run roughly 20 percent fast here, with consequences for everything downstream of the shaft. EMM checks frequency on every Saudi order before anything is manufactured. Cargo lands at Jeddah Islamic Port for the west, King Abdulaziz Port at Dammam for the Eastern Province, and Jubail or Yanbu for industrial consignments.
Vision 2030 is the buying programme
The National Industrial Development and Logistics Programme has made localisation of manufacturing an explicit national objective, and that is where our order book here has grown. Food processing is substantial - flour milling, dates, dairy, poultry, bakery, beverage filling, cold chain. Building materials are enormous given the scale of construction at NEOM, the Red Sea developments, Qiddiya and the Riyadh programme: cement, concrete batching, precast, block and paver plant, steel bar processing, aluminium and glass fabrication. Plastics, packaging and petrochemical downstream conversion feed off the Jubail and Yanbu complexes. Mining in the Arabian Shield - gold, phosphate at Waad Al Shamal, bauxite - buys crushing, grinding, flotation and heavy pumping. Agriculture in Al Qassim and the central pivots takes irrigation, greenhouse and post-harvest equipment.
SABER - get this right first
Imports of regulated products require a Product Certificate of Conformity and then a Shipment Certificate of Conformity, both issued electronically through the SABER platform against SASO technical regulations. Goods shipped without a valid Shipment CoC are held. We register the product and obtain both certificates as part of the order rather than treating it as your problem. Factory power is 380 V three phase at 60 Hz, with 220 V for single-phase loads. Design for 45 to 50 C ambient, extreme dryness inland and salt-laden humidity on both coasts.
