Poland has become the manufacturing workshop of the European Union, and that is the reason EMM pays attention to it. Labour and energy costs below the western European average, full access to the single market, and a large skilled engineering base have drawn in furniture, appliance, automotive component and food manufacturing at real scale. Polish manufacturers buy capital equipment steadily and they buy pragmatically - they will take a machine that does the job for a sensible price rather than the most prestigious option. Cargo lands at Gdansk, Gdynia or Szczecin-Swinoujscie, with rail from China into the Malaszewicze terminal carrying a significant share.
Furniture, appliances, food, construction
Poland is the largest furniture exporter in the European Union, and the sector around Poznan, Bydgoszcz and Kepno buys panel saws, edgebanders, CNC routers, drilling and dowel inserting, sanding, lacquering and finishing lines, foam cutting and upholstery equipment, and dust extraction. Household appliance manufacture in Lodz and Wroclaw buys stamping, forming, welding, enamelling, assembly and test equipment. Automotive components across Silesia and the Wielkopolska region take presses, injection moulding, machining and handling plant. Food processing is substantial: poultry and meat processing at European scale, dairy, bakery and confectionery, apple and fruit juice concentrate, frozen vegetables and beverage filling. Construction materials, windows and doors, where Poland is a leading EU exporter, buy profile machining, welding and glazing lines. Coal, copper at Lubin and the energy transition projects add mining and electrical equipment demand.
CE, UDT, and the cold
CE marking against the Machinery Directive is mandatory, with Polish-language instructions required, and the new Machinery Regulation applies from January 2027. Lifting equipment, pressure vessels and certain other categories additionally fall under UDT technical supervision, which involves Polish inspection and registration - a step that surprises suppliers and must be planned for. The network runs at 230 V, rising to 400 V on three phase, 50 Hz. Winters reach minus 20 C, so outdoor and unheated-building installations need cold provision.
Ask us whether your equipment falls under UDT supervision. It is the step most often missed on this market.
