Kuwait has an import regime that trips up suppliers who have not met it before, and it is worth setting out plainly. Regulated goods require a Technical Inspection Report issued under the Kuwait Conformity Assurance Scheme before shipment, obtained against the specific consignment in the country of supply. Without a valid TIR the goods are not released. EMM books the inspection in China and sends the report with the documents, and we confirm whether your product falls in scope at the quotation stage. Cargo lands at Shuaiba, Shuwaikh or Doha port.

Oil, refining, reconstruction

Kuwait Oil Company and the refining complexes, including Al Zour, are the dominant industrial buyers, taking refinery feed and reflux pumps, relief and control valves, process air and gas compressors, air-cooled and shell exchangers, knockout and separation drums, generator sets, submerged-arc and TIG welding plant, pipe spooling equipment and heavy workshop machinery, with strong demand for certified spares on long-cycle maintenance. Construction and infrastructure under the development plan buy concrete batching, precast, block and paver equipment, crushing and screening, cranage, steel bar processing and MEP plant. Food processing is largely import substitution at scale for a wealthy, highly urbanised population - flour milling, dairy, poultry, bakery, beverage filling, date processing and extensive cold chain and logistics refrigeration. Water comes from desalination, so reverse osmosis plant, high-pressure pumping and treatment are constant. Metal fabrication, plastics, packaging and the aluminium and glass trades supply the construction sector.

Conditions

Kuwait records some of the highest air temperatures measured anywhere on earth, routinely above 50 C in summer, with severe dust storms. This is not a market where standard-rated equipment survives. We specify maximum ambient ratings, substantially oversized cooling, multi-stage air filtration and dust-tight enclosures as the baseline, and we would rather argue for that at quotation than replace a burnt-out motor in August. Mains is 240 V single phase with 415 V three phase, 50 Hz.
