Jordan has exactly one seaport, and that single fact organises everything. Aqaba sits at the head of the Red Sea, it is the only maritime entry to the country, and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone around it carries its own customs and tax regime with duty advantages for qualifying industrial investment. EMM confirms at the outset whether a buyer is inside the ASEZ or importing into the general customs territory, because the landed cost differs materially. Amman is 330 km north by good road.
Phosphates, pharmaceuticals, garments
Phosphate and potash extraction - the Dead Sea potash operation is one of the largest in the world - and the fertiliser and chemical industry built on them buy crushing, grinding, granulation, drying, crystallisation, conveying and bagging plant plus heavy pumping. Pharmaceutical manufacturing is unusually strong for a country of Jordan's size and exports across the region, which means cleanroom equipment, tablet presses, coating, blistering, filling, sterilisation and validated utilities, specified to a standard well above the regional average. Garment manufacture in the development zones supplying the United States market buys sewing, cutting, pressing, laundry and finishing machinery. Food processing covers olive oil, dairy, bakery, confectionery, beverage filling and cold chain. Construction and building materials take batching, precast, block and stone-cutting plant.
Water above all
Jordan is among the most water-scarce countries on earth, and that shapes an unusual share of what we ship here: deep well pumps for the Disi aquifer, desalination and brackish water treatment, membrane plant, reclaimed-water irrigation systems, leak detection and metering, and process equipment chosen specifically for low water consumption. If a machine we offer has a thirstier and a leaner variant, we quote the leaner one here by default. Local supply is 230 V and 400 V at 50 Hz. JSMO administers standards.
