Talk to usMachine and equipment supply in Italy
Italy, like Germany, is a machinery-building nation rather than simply a machinery-buying one. Italian manufacturers lead the world in packaging, bottling, food processing, textile and ceramic machinery, and EMM does not pretend to beat them at it. Our place in this market is as a component and parts supplier to Italian machine builders themselves, and as a source for categories Italian industry does not make or does not make at an accessible price. A fair number of our Italian customers are OEMs buying parts to put inside machines they then export. Cargo lands at Genoa, La Spezia, Gioia Tauro, Livorno or Trieste.
Industrial districts, each with its own needs
Italian manufacturing is organised into tight geographic districts and the demand follows them. Ceramics around Sassuolo buy presses, kiln components, glazing and handling parts. Textiles in Prato, Biella and Como buy spinning and weaving components, needles, cylinders and finishing parts. Food processing - pasta in Parma and the south, wine across the peninsula, olive oil in Puglia and Tuscany, tomato processing in Emilia and Campania, cheese and cured meats - buys processing lines and the parts to maintain them. Packaging machinery builders in the Bologna district source motors, drives, pneumatics, conveyor components and electronics. Furniture and woodworking in Brianza and Pesaro, marble and stone in Carrara, eyewear in Belluno, and the metalworking and mechanical subcontracting base across Lombardy and Veneto buy tooling, abrasives, measuring equipment and consumables.
Conformity and expectations
Nothing goes on the market here without CE marking under the Machinery Directive and Italian-language instructions, and the Machinery Regulation applies from January 2027. Buyers here are technically demanding and will want material certificates, dimensional reports and traceability on components going into their own CE-marked products, because your part becomes their liability. We supply that documentation. Factory power is 400 V three phase at 50 Hz, with 230 V for single-phase loads. Italy is seismically active in much of the peninsula, which affects anchoring on heavy installations.
If you are an OEM putting our parts inside your machine, tell us - the certification package you need is different from an end user's.
