Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and it is spread across more than seventeen thousand islands, which makes the inland leg unusually important. The downstreaming policy is the story

Indonesia has banned or taxed the export of several unprocessed minerals to force value addition at home, and nickel in particular has drawn enormous smelter and battery-chain investment in Sulawesi and North Maluku. That policy is the single biggest driver of heavy equipment demand here: crushing, grinding, furnaces, materials handling, conveying, slurry pumps, dewatering, compressors, generator sets and workshop plant. Palm oil is the other giant - mills across Sumatra and Kalimantan buy sterilisers, threshers, presses, clarification, kernel plant, refining and biodiesel equipment. Rubber, cocoa, coffee and spice processing follow. Food and beverage manufacturing for a population of 280 million is substantial: flour milling, noodle and biscuit lines, dairy, beverage filling, cold chain. Fisheries and shrimp aquaculture buy ice, freezing and processing plant. Textiles, footwear, plastics, packaging, furniture and cement complete it.

SNI and import licensing

Many product categories require mandatory SNI certification, and importers need the correct licence type registered with the trade ministry before the goods arrive. We confirm the SNI position for your category at enquiry and arrange certification where it applies. Mains voltage is 220 V, with 380 V available on three phase at 50 Hz. The climate is humid tropical throughout, with genuine seismic and volcanic activity on Java and Sumatra, so anchoring specifications for heavy plant should reflect that.
