Talk to usMachine and equipment supply in India
India is a market where EMM has to be clear-eyed about its own position. India builds an enormous amount of machinery itself, Make in India and the production-linked incentive schemes are explicitly designed to displace imports, anti-dumping duties apply to a long list of Chinese-origin goods, and the Bureau of Indian Standards has been issuing Quality Control Orders at pace that bring more product categories under mandatory certification every year. We are not going to tell an Indian buyer we undercut Indian manufacturing across the board. We compete on specific categories, on imported sub-assemblies and components, and on plant that is not made domestically at the capacity or specification required.
Where imports still make sense
Textile machinery components, specialised food processing lines, packaging and labelling automation, plastics and injection moulding, solar manufacturing equipment, battery assembly plant, CNC and precision tooling, laser cutting and sheet metal processing, and laboratory and testing instruments are the categories where enquiries are most frequent. Agro-processing at scale - rice, flour, pulses, spices, oil expelling, dairy - buys imported lines where domestic options do not reach the throughput. Pharmaceutical and chemical plant takes reactors, dryers, filtration and packaging equipment. Mining, cement and steel buy wear parts and crushing and conveying components in volume.
BIS and the duty position - check before you commit
A Quality Control Order in your product category means BIS registration or an ISI licence is mandatory, the foreign factory must be registered, and the process takes months. Goods arriving outside it are not importable. We tell you at enquiry whether your category is covered and what the realistic timeline is, and we check the anti-dumping and countervailing duty position, because a duty of 30 or 40 percent can erase the entire price advantage. Cargo lands at Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai, Kolkata, Cochin or Visakhapatnam. Standard supply is 230 V single phase, 415 V three phase, 50 Hz.
Send us the HS code you expect to use and we will come back with the BIS and anti-dumping position before we quote a price. On this market that information is worth more than a discount.
