Hong Kong is a free port with no import duty on industrial goods, and in EMM's experience very little of what arrives here is destined to stay. The territory's role is as a trading, financing and re-export platform, so most of our Hong Kong enquiries come from trading houses, regional buying offices and procurement agents purchasing on behalf of a principal elsewhere - frequently in Southeast Asia, Africa or the Middle East. We work with that openly: if you are buying for a client, tell us, and we will supply documentation and markings for their market rather than for yours.

Where we fit

For trading companies, the useful thing we offer is not the lowest factory price - you can find that yourself - but factory audit, specification control, run-off witnessing and consolidation before shipment, so your client receives what was ordered rather than what the factory normally builds. That protects your margin and your relationship. For buyers equipping operations in Hong Kong itself, the demand is concentrated in construction and fit-out, given the scale and density of building work: concrete and batching plant, scaffolding and formwork, cranage and hoists, aluminium and glass fabrication, joinery machinery and MEP equipment. Food and beverage manufacture, commercial kitchen and laundry plant for the hospitality sector, and cold chain and logistics refrigeration are all steady. Waste handling, recycling and water treatment equipment has grown with environmental policy. Precision engineering and electronics support serves the cross-border Shenzhen manufacturing base.

Technical details

Factory power is 380 V three phase at 50 Hz, with 220 V for single-phase loads, with UK-pattern outlets and a highly reliable grid. Electrical products must meet the Electrical Products Safety Regulation. English and Chinese documentation are both available. Building access in dense urban sites is frequently the binding constraint on equipment size, so we check lift dimensions, door widths and floor loading before shipping anything substantial.
