Guinea holds a world-scale share of the planet's bauxite and is developing one of its largest untapped iron ore deposits, and that single fact dominates everything EMM ships here. Cargo comes through Conakry, with dedicated mineral terminals at Kamsar and in the Boke region handling bulk export, and Conakry also serves as a corridor into Mali. The scale of the mining projects means the equipment enquiries here skew much heavier than in neighbouring countries.
Bauxite, iron ore, hydropower
Bauxite mining around Boke and Kindia buys crushing, screening, washing, conveying, stockyard and ship-loading equipment, along with slurry pumps, dewatering, large compressors, generator sets, heavy workshop plant and a constant flow of wear parts. The alumina refining projects take considerably more process equipment again. The Simandou iron ore development and its rail and port works have created demand for construction plant, cranage, concrete batching, pipe and structural fabrication, welding and site services. Hydropower at Kaleta and Souapiti and the associated transmission works buy pumps, valves, gates and electrical plant. Outside mining, agro-processing covers rice milling, palm oil, fruit and juice processing, cassava and maize milling and fisheries cold chain at Conakry.
Wet season and language
Conakry is one of the wettest capitals in the world - the monsoon from June to October delivers extraordinary rainfall, and site conditions, road access and storage all deteriorate sharply during it. We advise landing equipment before June wherever the schedule allows, and we crate and seal to cope with the alternative. Guinea is francophone and we supply documentation and panel markings in French. Installations run on 220 V single phase or 380 V three phase at 50 Hz, with limited grid reach outside Conakry, so generation is usually part of the package.
If the equipment is for a mine site, tell us the haul distance and road condition from Conakry - it changes how we crate and brace it.
