Ghana is one of the easier West African markets to supply well. EMM ships to Tema, which serves Accra and the whole southern industrial belt, and to Takoradi for the west and the oil and gas traffic. Clearance is reasonably predictable, the business culture is direct, and English-language documentation removes a layer of friction that exists almost everywhere else in the region. We have found Ghanaian buyers unusually willing to specify properly and pay for a machine that will last, which makes it a good market for honest quoting.
Cocoa, gold, and the factories programme
Cocoa is central. Ghana is the world's second largest producer and the push into local grinding rather than bean export has created real demand for cleaning, roasting, winnowing, grinding, pressing, butter and liquor plant and packaging. The One District One Factory programme has seeded food processing across the regions: cassava and gari, palm oil milling, rice milling, fruit juice and concentrate, tomato processing, shea butter, poultry and feed mills. Gold mining in the Western and Ashanti regions buys crushing and milling, gravity concentration, elution and smelting, pumps, compressors, generators and assay laboratory equipment. Oil and gas at Takoradi takes pumps, valves, fabrication and workshop plant. Construction, plastics, packaging and steel fabrication fill out the rest.
Documentation and site conditions
The Ghana Standards Authority administers conformity requirements and certain categories need pre-shipment assessment, which we arrange in China. Supply is 230 V single phase, 400 V three phase, 50 Hz, UK-pattern outlets. Grid supply is better than the regional average but not immune to interruption, so standby generation is worth budgeting. The coastal belt is humid and salt-exposed; the northern regions are hot, dry and dusty in the harmattan, which argues for heavier air filtration on anything going to Tamale or Bolgatanga.
Tell us the region and the production target and we will quote a Tema-landed figure with the duty position set out.
