Germany builds the best industrial machinery in the world and EMM is not going to claim otherwise. A German buyer comparing us against a Swabian machine tool manufacturer on precision, longevity and service should buy the German machine. We are honest about that because the alternative - overclaiming to the most technically literate buyers anywhere - destroys credibility in one conversation. Where we do compete is narrower and real: components and sub-assemblies, simpler plant where German engineering is more than the application needs, replacement and wear parts, and categories where price rather than tolerance decides. Cargo lands at Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Wilhelmshaven, with Duisburg handling inland and rail-from-China traffic.

Where the enquiries actually come from

Packaging and end-of-line equipment, conveyors and material handling, pumps and valves for non-critical duty, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic components, castings and machined parts, electric motors and gearboxes, sheet metal and welding consumables, warehouse racking and logistics equipment, and solar mounting, inverters and battery storage. Food processing businesses buy mid-range plant where a specialist German line would be over-specified. Recycling and waste handling has substantial demand. Workshop and trade tooling sells on price. Rail-freight from China through Duisburg has made moderate-volume, time-sensitive consignments viable in a way sea freight does not.

CE marking, and what changes in 2027

Machinery requires CE marking with a technical file, risk assessment, declaration of conformity and German-language instructions, under the Machinery Directive and, from January 2027, the new Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 - which tightens requirements notably around software, cybersecurity and substantially modified machinery. Anyone specifying plant now for installation then should be planning for it. GS marking and DGUV requirements apply in practice even where not legally mandatory, because employers and insurers ask for them. Distribution is at 230 V with 400 V three phase, 50 Hz, Schuko outlets.
