Talk to usMachine and equipment supply in Egypt
Egypt is the largest industrial economy in North Africa and EMM supplies it through Alexandria, Damietta, Port Said, Ain Sokhna and Adabiya depending on where the plant is going. The Suez Canal Economic Zone has become the centre of gravity for new manufacturing, and the industrial cities - Tenth of Ramadan, Sadat City, Sixth of October, Borg El Arab - concentrate most of the rest. Egyptian buyers are experienced importers who negotiate hard and expect proper technical documentation, and we deal with them on that footing.
Textiles, food, building materials, engineering
Textiles and garments remain the largest manufacturing sector, from the cotton spinning and weaving heritage at Mahalla to the modern apparel plants, buying spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing and automated cutting and sewing equipment. Food processing is on a scale to match a population of over a hundred million: flour milling, pasta, bakery lines, oil refining, sugar, dairy, juice and beverage filling, canning, frozen vegetables and date and fruit processing. Building materials - cement, ceramics, glass, marble and granite cutting, gypsum, steel rolling - are major industries with heavy machinery requirements. Chemicals, fertiliser, plastics and packaging are substantial. Automotive and appliance assembly buy presses, welding automation, painting and finishing plant. Agriculture in the Delta and the reclaimed desert projects takes irrigation, pivots, pumping, greenhouse and cold chain equipment.
Registration and documentation
Egypt requires exporting factories of certain product categories to be registered with GOEIC before their goods can be imported, and consignments are inspected on arrival. This registration takes months and has to be in place beforehand, so we confirm the position for your product category at enquiry rather than letting it surface at the port. Installations run on 220 V single phase or 380 V three phase at 50 Hz. Arabic documentation and markings are available and often required.
Ask us about the GOEIC registration status for your product before you plan the shipment. It is the most common reason Egyptian imports stall.
