Chad is landlocked, Saharan across its northern two thirds, and roughly 1,700 km from the nearest working seaport. EMM ships through Douala in Cameroon and the cargo travels by road to N'Djamena, with a further haul to Moundou, Sarh or Abeche. This is one of the longest and roughest inland legs we handle anywhere, and it governs how we work: heavy crating, internal bracing, moisture barriers, spares in the same container, and delivery estimates with genuine contingency rather than optimistic ones.
Oil, cotton, cattle
Oil production in the Doba basin and the export pipeline to Kribi is the main source of foreign earnings, and it buys pumps, valves, compressors, generator sets, welding and pipe-fitting plant and field workshop equipment. Cotton through the Cotontchad system is the traditional industry, with ginning, baling and cottonseed oil extraction concentrated around Moundou and the south. Livestock is enormous in Chad - one of the largest herds in Africa - and buys watering, feed milling, abattoir, chilling, hide and skin processing and tanning equipment. Food processing covers millet and sorghum milling, groundnut shelling and expelling, sesame cleaning, rice milling in the Logone valley, and sugar at Banda. Gum arabic and spirulina from Lake Chad have their own drying, grading and packing requirements. Water is the most consistent category of all - borehole drilling rigs, submersible and solar pumps, storage, treatment and distribution.
Built for extremes
Northern Chad includes some of the hottest and driest terrain on earth, and even N'Djamena routinely exceeds 42 C with dense harmattan dust. We specify maximum ambient ratings, oversized radiators, multi-stage cyclonic filtration, sealed bearings and dust-tight enclosures, and solar pumping is often more practical than any grid connection. On the parts of the network that function, supply is 220 V single phase, 380 V three phase, 50 Hz. French and Arabic documentation available.
