Cape Verde is ten islands off the West African coast, and EMM ships through Praia on Santiago and Mindelo on Sao Vicente. The archipelago is dry, volcanic and almost entirely dependent on imports, which means the demand profile is unusual: a disproportionate share of what we supply here is not production machinery at all but the infrastructure that makes life and business possible - water, power, cold chain and handling.
Water and energy first
Cape Verde has very little fresh surface water, so desalination is not a supplementary source, it is the main one. Reverse osmosis plant, high-pressure pumps, membranes, energy recovery devices, storage and distribution equipment are the single most consistent category we quote. Renewable energy follows closely - the islands have exceptional wind and solar resource and an active programme to use it, which brings enquiries for mounting systems, inverters, battery storage and associated electrical plant. Fisheries are the main productive export and buy ice makers, freezing tunnels, cold stores, fish handling and canning equipment for Mindelo and Praia. Tourism on Sal and Boa Vista drives commercial laundry, kitchen, refrigeration, HVAC and pool plant. Construction takes block machines, mixers, batching plants and compactors, and aggregate crushing for volcanic stone.
Logistics and language
Inter-island transfer adds a leg and a cost to anything not landing on its final island, so we confirm the destination island, not just the country, before quoting. The escudo is pegged to the euro, which makes pricing stable and predictable. Portuguese documentation and panel markings are available and generally expected. Salt air and constant trade winds mean corrosion protection is essential: marine coatings, stainless fasteners and sealed enclosures as standard. Electrical supply is 220 V and, on three phase, 380 V at 50 Hz.
Name the island and we will quote it delivered there rather than to the first port of entry.
